Conectores en inglés (and, but, or): Explicación + Ejercicios

Connectors in English

Usamos conectores para unir palabras, ideas o frases cortas.
En el nivel A1 empezamos con tres muy básicos:

  • and → para sumar información
  • but → para contrastar o decir algo diferente
  • or → para elegir entre dos opciones

Son muy frecuentes en frases sencillas del día a día, así que conviene dominarlos desde el principio.

🔵 AND = y

Usamos and, igual que y en español: para unir ideas que van en la misma dirección.

Ejemplos:

  • She works and studies. → Ella trabaja y estudia.
  • I like coffee and tea. → Me gusta el café y el té.

🔵BUT = pero

Usamos but igual que pero en español: cuando la segunda idea contrasta con la primera.

Ejemplos:

  • He is nice, but very shy. → Él es simpático, pero muy tímido.
  • I want to go, but I’m tired. → Quiero ir, pero estoy cansado.

🔵OR = o

Usamos or para ofrecer opciones o alternativas.

Ejemplos:

  • We can stay home or go out. → Podemos quedarnos en casa o salir.
  • Do you want water or juice? → ¿Quieres agua o zumo?

3. Traduce las frases.

  1. Me gusta el frío y la lluvia.
  2. Quiero venir, pero no puedo.
  3. ¿Prefieres tren o autobús?
  4. Ella trabaja y estudia.
  5. Estoy cansado, pero contento.

4. Cada frase tiene un error. Corrígelo.

5. Une las dos frases usando el conector indicado.

  1. I like music and podcasts.
  2. He wants to travel, but he has no money.
  3. We can cook or order food.
  4. She is friendly but very quiet.
  5. I speak English and a little French.
  1. The cat is under the bed.
  2. The picture is on the wall.
  3. The keys are in my bag.
  4. The bank is next to the supermarket.
